Not So Sweet: Sugar Pine Bottled Water Defies the State

Bottled water companies all source water from someplace, be that a spring they own outright, or water they purchase from a municipality or private water source. Some have grandfather clauses that allow them to pull water from specific sources, watersheds or aquifers. But California?s drought has changed the game, understandably so.

Armed with evidence captured by surveillance cameras, California's State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) have ordered one such bottled water company to stop drawing Sierra Nevada spring water that is later bottled and sold in stores.
