Foiled in France: Bottled Water and 60 Million Consumers

consumer
magazine,
60
Millions

Consommateurs,
and
a
non-governmental
organization
specializing
in
water
issues,
Fondation
France
Libertés,
have
discovered
traces
of
pesticides
and
prescription
drugs
in
one
in
five
brands
of
bottled
water
on
the
shelves
of
France's
supermarkets.
Scientists
agree
that
the
contamination
is
minuscule
and
the
bottled
water
remains
safe,
but
consumer
groups,
ever
seeking
to
criticize
bottled
water
say
the
findings
raise
environmental
concerns.
Researchers
analyzed
47
brands
of
bottled
water
widely
available
throughout
France,
and
discovered
that
only
10
of
them
contained
"residues
from
drugs
or
pesticides."
