title

leading
the
world
in
soft
drink
consumption.
Therefore
Mexico?s
government
is
proposing
to
include
bottled
water
in
its
new
anti-obesity
tax
measures.
The
Ministry
of
Health
proposed
?Battling
Childhood
Obesity
in
Mexico?
in
a
2012
report
stating
that,
?Mexico
is
the
world
leader
in
sugary
carbonated
beverage
consumption
per
capita,?
and
that,
?soft
drinks
are
the
single
largest
portion
of
energy
intake.?
The
report
states
that
soda
consumption
is
a
major
contributor
to
childhood
obesity
and
is
linked
to
diabetes.
As
part
of
the
proposed
solutions,
the
Ministry
of
Health
