With all the bashing of bottled water is a reliable genuine source worth keeping. I have one question why doesent in the bottled water business bring up the clorine question you can't breath the vapor it will kill you yet we are happy to drink it. It is not the best way to purify water it is just the cheapest and why not remind the bashers how much it costs for other drinks they cite transportation, plastic bottles, packaging all bad for the enviroment and blame bottled water

Hi Jack,
You are so correct regarding chlorine. It not only is toxic in higher concentrations, it is also a suspected carcinogen in tap water when it interacts with organic matter which can produce trihalomethanes. Communities that use more chlorine because of higher organics in their tap water such as New Orleans, also have higher incidences or certain cancers (especially rectal and bladder cancer).
But the question of "why doesn't the bottled water industry use chlorine as a issue?" is because many bottlers use tap water as their source water. Companies like Coke, Pepsi and others that sell "purified water" usually are using tap water. Granted, they remove chlorine from the source water before bottling it, but they don't want to point fingers at something that is integral to their bottling operations.
Yes, pure spring water that has never been touched by chlorine is by far the most healthy and best choice.
