The source, in the central Italian town of Fiuggi overlooking the Sacco River Valley, was officially discovered in 1696 although it had long been known for it's healing properties. Originally called Anticoli di Campagna, Pope Boniface VIII first gave Fiuggi fame when he claimed that the water had cured him of his kidney stones, Michelangelo, the Colonna family (of the Battle of Lepanto fame), and many others found solace in the waters of Fiuggi. It is one of the most popular still waters in Italy because of its clear, sweet taste. It can be found in most Italian restaurants in Europe.
